• Structural Strengthening of  a  Highway Bridge Pier and Beams

Project Description:
A bridge pier and twenty-four (24) pre-stressed beams (31m long) of the bridge connecting Egnatia Highway with the commercial port of Thessaloniki in northern Greece were in need of strengthening due to changes during construction.
Fibrwrap Hellas made the application according to a design where the Tyfo Carbon Fibrwrap Systems was the material of choice. Specifically the Tyfo SCH-41 and Tyfo SCH-11UP with Tyfo S-Epoxy were applied at the two columns of the pier and Tyfo SCH-11UP with Tyfo S-Epoxy at the beams.
The whole application of 400 sq. m., was completed in 12 days including the application of epoxy based protective coating for UV radiation.
